WHAT CAUSED THIS WAR?
Following WWII and after the Japanese surrendered to the United States, the Soviet military continued onto North Korea. They took over the province from the Japanese but president Truman noticed the growing danger of the peninsula being controlled by the communist. Truman feared the "Domino Theory" where one country would fall to communism then others surrounding would also fall to communism. Truman also realized that the United States was in a race for "global domination" with Russia. While we sided with South Korea, we were fighting communism without even fighting Russia. He proposed a dividing line to keep peace named The 38th Parallel but this brought up a civil war when North Korea attacked the south on June 25 of 1950.
