WHY DID THEY SPLIT?

Kim II Sung was a communist dictator during the Korean Conflict. He wanted South and North Korea to be communist but South Korea didn't want to. Plus, the United Nations and United States didn't want any other countries to be communist since China had already switched. They feared the "Domino Theory" and fought to keep South Korea from communism. The North Koreans first attacked South Korea which led to U.S. involvement and a war. Soon enough they came to an agreement and the creation of the 38th Parallel which is a line between the two and an armistice.
